English Speaking Friends!
Gabe and Kari, Kaleb, Selah, Essie, and Joel
Gabe: I grew up as a missionary kid in Paraguay where I came to know the Lord as my Savior when I was a child. As a teenager I enjoyed traveling the country with my dad on evangelism trips to remote areas where we would set up an outdoor Christian film and give a gospel presentation during intermission. I went to Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, IA where I met my wife Kari.
Kari: grew up in a Christian home in Oregon and came to know Christ as her Savior early in life as well. During her teenage years she enjoyed spending many summers working at a Christian camp. In college she was interested in missions and we both got tour degrees in Teaching and Bible which we wanted to use on the mission field.
Early 2003 we spoke with our elders about going on the mission field and got their approval. Since September of 2004 we’ve been working as missionaries in Camiri Bolivia. Our main goal as missionaries is to see the “Escuela Cristiana” continue its vision of seeing Bolivian children, and families come to Christ. We currently have four children. Kaleb, Selah, Essie, and Joel. We are so grateful to see the Lord’s care and provision for us and the school during the ups and downs of the last few years and we look forward to what He has planned for us in the future.

… about the school.
The Escuela Cristiana Camireña has been around since 1956. It started out as an elementary school with 64 elementary students and a vision to reach these and others for Christ. It is currently a K-12 school and has approximately 240 students.
We are glad to see this vision renewed. The gospel is being preached to kids from various religious backgrounds and their parents know it when they sign up! Friday chapel hour, in class Bible teaching, visiting speakers, and other creative ways are used to bring these kids to Christ.
This year, 2010, we are looking forward to helping support needy students and offer them the possibility of not just being educated. There are many “educated” men who didn’t have a grounding in character. As missionaries, and as an outreach we would like to invite students who cannot afford to go to this school to join us. In order to do this we are looking for sponsors who are willing to help them financially. Currently we have 11 students who are in need and we would like to invite up to 10 more to help meet the minimun number required to be able to cover our costs. If you are interested in this please email me, Gabe at directorcristiana@gmail.com and we will arrange it so that you can do this.
Please pray for us::
- as a family for health, wisdom, and His provision for our needs.
- for kids at school to come to know Christ and that the school would continue to be effective in this goal.
- for wisdom in decision making as we try to take careful steps in an unstable environment.
Because HIS love compels us to share the gospel! 2 Cor. 5:14

A visit from Portachuelo
Portachuelo is a small town 42 miles from the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia. This past weekend we had the visit of 16 students and three teachers from the Christian School founded and directed by Merlyn and Marion Schultz. I created a hosting committee of 20 of our faithful Christian students to welcome and be with the Portachuelo group all the time and make new friends. They participated of our chapel time at school on Friday and played sports; at night they had a walk with fun activities till they arrived to the house where supper was waiting, a traditional “majao” dish. On Saturday a picnic by the Parapety River beach was planned. The day began gray and cloudy with fine rain, but we went ahead with our plans and by the time we got to our spot, the drizzle had stopped. Internet had showed an unlikely weather forecast for outing, but our sovereign Lord overruled it. We could not have asked the Lord for a better day! There they got tired of hiking through the hills and got wet crossing to the river. In the evening they were in our regular meeting for young people and went for pizza straight afterwards. On Sunday we were together for Breaking of Bread, Sunday school and Dinner. Then they had free time till they got the night bus back to Portachuelo.
